Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is the highest quality and least processed form of olive oil, extracted solely by the natural crushing of the olives without the use of chemicals or excessive heat. It’s the highest grade of olive oil.
What's the difference between unfiltered and regular extra virgin olive oil?
Unfiltered extra virgin olive oil retains particles from the olives, enhancing its flavor and nutritional profile. Regular extra virgin olive oil undergoes filtration to remove these particles for a clearer appearance.
Are all unfiltered olive oils decanted?
No, not all unfiltered olive oils are decanted. Origin 846 undergoes decanting, where we allow the extra virgin olive oil to rest in decanted tanks allowing sediments and residues to rest at the bottom. The extra virgin olive oil is then extracted from the top and filled into bottles.
How long can unfiltered extra virgin olive oil last?
When stored in a cool, dark place away from heat and light, unfiltered decanted extra virgin olive oil can maintain its quality for up 24 months. We follow the international olive oil council (IOC) standard and print the production and expiration dates on each bottle.
