We use dark glass bottles to protect the olive oil from harmful UV rays. They are also recyclable and less damaging to the environment. A major disadvantage of plastic materials is their porosity which permits the penetration of air and humidity including light penetration harming the quality and taste of the oil. As well, over time traces of small molecules from plastic bottles leach into the olive oil affecting its quality and purity. Even though it costs significantly more to use glass bottles, we prefer that our consumers receive the healthiest quality olive oil available.
